About the position

The Merchandising Service Associate - Plant Service Lead is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while executing Lowe's merchandising policies and procedures. This role involves building strong relationships with vendors and ensuring that merchandise resets are completed according to Lowe's specifications. The individual will collaborate closely with the Merchandising Service team and Manager to communicate project priorities, schedules, and material needs. Although the position primarily involves tasks that do not require direct customer interaction, the associate is expected to engage with customers when opportunities arise, assisting them in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise. This includes listening to customer inquiries and providing knowledgeable responses, as well as demonstrating appreciation for their business. In addition to customer engagement, the associate will be responsible for various merchandising tasks, such as emptying plant racks onto tables, merchandising by planogram, and ensuring that all displays are safe and in working order. The role requires the identification of damaged or missing signage and the ordering of replacements in accordance with merchandising standards. The associate will also update wayfinding and product location signage, assist with pricing dead and distressed plants, and maintain communication with team members regarding quality and quantity issues. The position involves using power equipment to adjust fixtures, rotate stock, and support materials as per service expectations. The associate will be accountable for reviewing and entering completion details for all assigned service and maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with housekeeping standards, and maintaining a safe and secure work environment. This includes conducting daily safety reviews, noting hazards, and adhering to all safety requirements relevant to the job. The role may also involve operating various store equipment and performing additional duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Provide SMART customer service through the execution of Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Build relationships with vendors and ensure merchandise resets are completed according to specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Merchandising Service team and Manager to communicate project priorities and needs.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and assist them in locating and loading merchandise.
  • Listen to and respond knowledgeably to customer questions, providing information about stock and special orders.
  • Merchandise plants by planogram, price, and color block as they arrive.
  • Identify damaged or missing signage and order replacements as needed.
  • Update wayfinding and product location signage throughout the store.
  • Ensure proper placement of cross merchandise and assist with pricing dead and distressed plants.
  • Maintain communication with MSM and red vest associates regarding quality and quantity issues.
  • Adjust fixtures, rotate stock, and display products using power equipment as required.
  • Review and enter completion details for assigned service and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure all displays are safe and in working order, repairing or replacing as needed.
  • Remove trash and debris, and maintain cleanliness in working areas.
  • Conduct daily safety reviews and adhere to safety requirements relevant to the job.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction).
  • Ability to work overnight and weekends.
  • Ability to utilize web-based computer programs to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • 6 months of live nursery experience or general merchandising experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 6 months of Lowe's sales floor experience.
  • 6 months of experience performing product merchandising tasks including reading planograms.
  • 3 months of experience operating power equipment such as lifts and order pickers.
  • Working knowledge of basic tools needed for the job (e.g., hand tools, drills, saws).
