About the position

The Merchandising Service Associate Plant Service Lead at Lowe's is a vital role within the Store Operations department, specifically in the MST Live Nursery. This position is focused on delivering exceptional customer service while executing merchandising tasks that align with Lowe's standards. The individual in this role will be responsible for ensuring that the store's plant displays are well-organized, visually appealing, and compliant with merchandising guidelines. This includes emptying plant racks onto tables, merchandising by planogram, and maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of the Outside Garden area. In addition to merchandising responsibilities, the Associate will engage with customers to understand their needs and assist them in locating and selecting merchandise. Although direct customer interaction may not be the primary focus, the role requires the ability to provide knowledgeable assistance when opportunities arise. The Associate will also communicate effectively with vendors and collaborate with the Merchandising Service team to prioritize projects and manage schedules. Safety and compliance are critical aspects of this position. The Associate will conduct daily safety reviews, maintain a secure work environment, and adhere to all safety requirements relevant to their duties. This includes operating store equipment safely and efficiently, as well as identifying and reporting any security risks or maintenance issues. The role is dynamic and may involve additional duties as assigned, making it essential for the Associate to be adaptable and proactive in their approach to work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide SMART customer service through the execution of Lowe's customer service policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Build relationships with vendors by providing direction and ensuring merchandise resets are completed according to specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Merchandising Service team and Manager by communicating project priorities, schedules, and needs.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and assist in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise.
  • Listen to and respond knowledgeably to customer questions, taking them to areas of the store when necessary.
  • Demonstrate appreciation to customers and communicate information regarding stock, special orders, and warranty information.
  • Empty plant racks onto tables merchandising by planogram, price, and color block as they arrive.
  • Identify damaged or missing signage and order replacements according to merchandising standards.
  • Update and validate wayfinding and product location signage throughout the store.
  • Ensure cross merchandise and side stack products are placed appropriately to drive addon sales.
  • Assist with culling and pricing dead and distressed plants.
  • Maintain communication and partnership with MSM and red vest associates.
  • Identify and communicate issues with quality, quantity, and additional needs to the Outside Garden Supervisor and MSM.
  • Adjust fixtures, rotate stock, and display products using power equipment as per service expectations.
  • Review, complete, and enter completion details for all assigned service and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure all displays are safe and in working order, repairing or replacing as needed.
  • Remove trash and debris, and maintain cleanliness in the Outside Garden area.
  • Replace light bulbs and alert the appropriate contact for additional maintenance issues.
  • Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate them to management and/or Asset Protection.
  • Ensure compliance with housekeeping standards to maintain cleanliness and organization.
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment, conducting daily safety reviews and noting hazards.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements relevant to job duties, including the use of safety devices and equipment.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction).
  • Ability to work overnight and weekends.
  • Ability to utilize web-based computer programs to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • 6 months of live nursery experience or general merchandising experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 6 months of Lowe's sales floor experience.
  • 6 months of experience performing product merchandising tasks including reading planograms and setting up displays.
  • 3 months of experience operating power equipment such as lifts and order pickers.
  • Working knowledge of basic tools needed for the job (e.g., hand tools, drills, saws).
