About the position

The Merchandising Service Associate - Plant Service Lead at Lowe's is responsible for ensuring that the merchandising standards are met in the Outside Garden area. This role involves executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures while building relationships with vendors to ensure that merchandise resets are completed according to specifications. The individual will collaborate with the Merchandising Service team and Manager to communicate project priorities, schedules, and needs, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. Although the position primarily involves activities that do not require direct customer interaction, the associate is expected to engage with customers when opportunities arise. This includes understanding customer needs, assisting them in locating and demonstrating products, and providing information about stock, special orders, and warranty details. The associate will also be responsible for merchandising plants according to planograms, managing signage, and ensuring that displays are safe and in working order. In addition to merchandising tasks, the associate will maintain cleanliness and organization in the Outside Garden area, conduct daily safety reviews, and ensure compliance with safety standards. The role requires the use of various store equipment and may involve additional duties as assigned. The associate will also be accountable for reporting any issues related to quality, quantity, and safety to the appropriate supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide SMART customer service through the execution of Lowe's customer service policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Build relationships with vendors by providing direction and ensuring merchandise resets are completed according to specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Merchandising Service team and Manager to communicate project priorities, schedules, and needs.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and assist in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise.
  • Listen to and respond knowledgeably to customer questions, taking them to areas of the store when necessary.
  • Demonstrate appreciation to customers and communicate information regarding stock, special orders, and warranty information.
  • Empty plant racks onto plant tables merchandising by planogram, price, and color block as they arrive.
  • Identify damaged or missing signage and order replacements according to merchandising standards.
  • Update and validate wayfinding and product location signage throughout the store.
  • Ensure cross merchandise, side stack products, j-hooks, and gravity feed bins are placed appropriately to drive add-on sales.
  • Assist with culling and pricing dead and distressed plants.
  • Maintain communication and partnership with MSM and red vest associates.
  • Identify and communicate issues with quality, quantity, and additional needs to Outside Garden Supervisor and MSM.
  • Adjust fixtures, rotate stock, and display products using power equipment as needed.
  • Review, complete, and enter completion details for all assigned service and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure all displays are safe and in working order, repairing or replacing as needed.
  • Repair or seal damaged packaging and boxes, including peg-hook items.
  • Remove trash and move cardboard boxes to the bailer and plastic wrap to the compactor.
  • Replace light bulbs and alert the appropriate contact for additional maintenance issues.
  • Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate them to management and/or Asset Protection.
  • Ensure compliance with housekeeping standards to maintain cleanliness and organization.
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment, conducting daily safety reviews and noting hazards.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements relevant to job duties, including the use of safety devices and equipment.
  • Operate store equipment as needed depending on the specific role and department.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction).
  • Ability to work overnight and weekends.
  • Ability to utilize web-based computer programs to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • 6 Months Live nursery experience or General Merchandising experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 6 Months Lowe's sales floor experience.
  • 6 Months Experience performing product merchandising tasks including reading planograms, setting up and tearing down displays.
  • 3 Months Experience operating power equipment such as lifts, order pickers, and similar equipment.
  • Working knowledge of basic tools needed for the job (e.g., hand tools, drills, saws).
