About the position

The Merchandising Service Associate - Plant Service Lead at Lowe's is responsible for ensuring that the merchandising of plants and related products is executed according to company standards. This role involves a combination of customer service, merchandising, and operational tasks. The associate will provide SMART customer service by adhering to Lowe's customer service policies and procedures, ensuring that customers receive the assistance they need while also maintaining the store's merchandising standards. In this position, the associate will build relationships with vendors and collaborate with the Merchandising Service team and Manager to communicate project priorities and needs. Although the role primarily involves tasks that do not require direct customer interaction, the associate is expected to engage with customers when opportunities arise. This includes understanding customer needs, assisting them in locating and selecting merchandise, and providing information about products and services. The associate will also be responsible for merchandising plants by following planograms, managing signage, and ensuring that displays are safe and in working order. This includes tasks such as emptying plant racks, updating wayfinding signage, and maintaining cleanliness in the Outside Garden area. The role requires a high level of communication with team members and the ability to identify and report issues related to quality and inventory. Safety is a priority, and the associate must adhere to all safety requirements relevant to their duties, including operating store equipment safely and maintaining a secure work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide SMART customer service through the execution of Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Build relationships with vendors and ensure merchandise resets are completed according to specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Merchandising Service team and Manager to communicate project priorities and needs.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and assist in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise.
  • Listen to and respond knowledgeably to customer questions, guiding them to areas of the store as necessary.
  • Communicate information to customers regarding stock, special orders, feature benefits, and warranty information.
  • Empty plant racks onto plant tables merchandising by planogram, price, and color block as they arrive.
  • Identify damaged or missing signage and order replacements according to merchandising standards.
  • Update and validate wayfinding and product location signage throughout the store.
  • Ensure cross merchandise and side stack products are placed appropriately to drive add-on sales.
  • Assist with culling and pricing dead and distressed plants.
  • Maintain communication and partnership with MSM and red vest associates.
  • Identify and communicate issues with quality, quantity, and additional needs to the Outside Garden Supervisor and MSM.
  • Adjust fixtures, rotate stock, and display products using power equipment as needed.
  • Review and enter completion details for all assigned service and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure all displays are safe and in working order, repairing or replacing as needed.
  • Repair or seal damaged packaging and boxes, including peg-hook items.
  • Remove trash and move cardboard boxes to the bailer and plastic wrap to the compactor.
  • Replace light bulbs and alert the appropriate contact for additional maintenance issues.
  • Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate them to management and/or Asset Protection.
  • Ensure compliance with housekeeping standards to maintain cleanliness and organization.
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment, conducting daily safety reviews and noting hazards.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements relevant to job duties and operate store equipment as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction).
  • Ability to work overnight and weekends.
  • Ability to utilize web-based computer programs to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • 6 Months Live nursery experience or General Merchandising experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 6 Months Lowe's sales floor experience.
  • 6 Months Experience performing product merchandising tasks including reading planograms, setting up and tearing down displays.
  • 3 Months Experience operating power equipment such as lifts, order pickers, and similar equipment.
  • Working knowledge of basic tools needed for the job (e.g., hand tools, drills, saws).
