About the position

The Merchandising Service Associate - Plant Service Lead at Lowe's is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while executing Lowe's merchandising standards and policies. This role involves building relationships with vendors, ensuring that merchandise resets are completed according to specifications, and collaborating with the Merchandising Service team and management to communicate project priorities and needs. Although the position primarily involves tasks that do not require direct customer interaction, the associate is expected to engage with customers when opportunities arise, assisting them in locating, demonstrating, and selecting merchandise. The associate will be tasked with various responsibilities, including emptying plant racks onto tables, identifying and replacing damaged signage, updating wayfinding and product location signage, and ensuring that displays are safe and in working order. The role also includes maintaining cleanliness and organization in the Outside Garden area, conducting daily safety reviews, and adhering to all safety requirements relevant to the job. The associate will operate store equipment as needed and is accountable for completing assigned service and maintenance tasks, documenting details of these tasks, and communicating any issues to management. Overall, this position requires a proactive approach to customer service, attention to detail in merchandising, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide SMART customer service through the execution of Lowe's customer service policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Build relationships with vendors by providing direction and ensuring merchandise resets are completed according to specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Merchandising Service team and Manager by communicating project priorities, schedule, and project needs.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and assist in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise.
  • Listen to and respond knowledgeably to customer questions, taking them to areas of the store when necessary.
  • Demonstrate appreciation to customers and communicate information regarding stock, special orders, and warranty information.
  • Empty plant racks onto plant tables merchandising by planogram, price, and color block as they arrive.
  • Identify damaged or missing signage and order replacements in accordance with merchandising standards.
  • Update/validate wayfinding and product location signage and maintain digital information throughout the store.
  • Ensure cross merchandise, side stack products, j-hooks, and gravity feed bins are placed appropriately to drive add-on sales.
  • Assist with culling and pricing dead and distressed plants.
  • Maintain communication and partnership with MSM and red vest associates.
  • Identify and communicate issues with quality, quantity, and additional needs to Outside Garden Supervisor and MSM.
  • Adjust fixtures, rotate stock, and display products using power equipment as per service expectations.
  • Review, complete, and enter completion details for all assigned service and maintenance tasks, including taking and uploading photographs.
  • Ensure all displays are safe and in working order, repairing or replacing as needed.
  • Repair/seal damaged packaging and boxes, including peg-hook items.
  • Remove trash, move cardboard boxes to the bailer, and dispose of plastic wrap and debris in the compactor.
  • Replace light bulbs and alert the appropriate contact for additional maintenance issues.
  • Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate them to management and/or Asset Protection.
  • Ensure compliance with housekeeping standards to maintain cleanliness and organization of the Outside Garden and working areas.
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment, conducting daily safety reviews and noting hazards.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements relevant to job duties, including the use of safety devices and equipment.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction).
  • Ability to work overnight and weekends.
  • Ability to utilize web-based computer programs to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • 6 Months Live nursery experience or General Merchandising experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 6 Months Lowe's sales floor experience.
  • 6 Months Experience performing product merchandising tasks including reading planograms, setting up and tearing down displays.
  • 3 Months Experience operating power equipment such as lifts, order pickers, and similar equipment.
  • Working knowledge of basic tools needed for the job (e.g., hand tools, drills, saws).
