The Merchant Onboarding Specialist role is crucial in supporting Grocery & Retail Operations and Commercial teams through effective merchant relationship management and onboarding processes. This position requires a proactive approach to connect the client's business goals with sustainable merchant growth, ensuring that the onboarding process is efficient, timely, and accurate. The specialist will act as a liaison between clients and Grocery/Retail merchants, utilizing creative problem-solving skills to address and resolve merchant pain points. In this role, the Merchant Onboarding Specialist will leverage existing relationships with merchant partners to drive the adoption of new products and features. They will partner closely with Sales teams to create a best-in-class merchant experience during the onboarding process, serving as the operational glue that binds together major team efforts for program initiatives. The specialist will also be responsible for managing internal and external partners, responding promptly to merchant issues via email and phone, and escalating matters to management as necessary. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about client service and possess a strong background in onboarding and account management.

Responsibilities

  • Support Grocery & Retail Operations and Commercial teams through merchant relationship management and onboarding.
  • Act as a liaison between client and Grocery/Retail merchants, using creative problem solving to connect business goals with sustainable merchant growth.
  • Leverage relationships with merchant partners to drive new product and feature adoption.
  • Ensure efficiency, timeliness, and accuracy of merchant setup throughout the onboarding process.
  • Partner with Sales teams to create a best-in-class merchant experience during onboarding.
  • Serve as the operational glue for major team efforts on program initiatives.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and proactively resolve merchant pain points.
  • Respond to merchant issues promptly via email and phone.
  • Report and escalate issues to management as needed.
  • Manage internal and external partners.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of relevant onboarding experience.
  • Great communication skills and ability to interact with internal and external partners.
  • An interest in and passion for client service.
  • Demonstrated background in solving complex customer problems.
  • Strong level of autonomy and flexibility to adapt to business changes.
  • Passion for learning new skill sets, systems, and tooling.
  • A results-oriented, data-driven mindset.
  • Experience with Sales and Account Management.
