About the position

The FirstChoice Registered Nurse Manager plays a crucial role in the MercyOne Health System's nursing leadership, focusing on delivering high-quality patient care and supporting nursing staff. This position is essential for the growth and success of the FirstChoice Program, providing both clinical and administrative leadership to ensure superior patient care and compliance with nursing standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and administrative leadership for planning, organizing, directing, monitoring, and evaluating patient care.
  • Ensure quality patient care is delivered by FirstChoice staff and monitor overall performance.
  • Participate in the strategic development and outcomes management of nursing and clinical services.
  • Collaborate with key leaders to develop and implement operational plans, goals, and objectives.
  • Support the development and implementation of short and long-term goals and standards of care for the FirstChoice hub.
  • Manage performance measurement, action planning, and evaluation methods related to budget, productivity, and patient satisfaction.
  • Operationalize and monitor FirstChoice program standards related to education, retention, and cultural competence.
  • Ensure recruitment, retention, and development of quality patient care associates.
  • Promote an environment of shared leadership and decision-making.
  • Facilitate the implementation of evidence-based standards and protocols to improve patient care quality.
  • Communicate regularly with nursing leaders and stakeholders regarding patient safety and quality concerns.

Requirements

  • Current Iowa Registered Nursing license.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing required.
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Business or Health Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years clinical nursing or leadership experience at the unit level.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing practice in a clinical specialty.

Nice-to-haves
