About the position

The MARS Quality and Risk Manager (QRM) at Deloitte will play a pivotal role in supporting internal client service engagement teams involved in the acquisition or divestiture of assets or businesses. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of the complexities involved in mergers and acquisitions, particularly in the context of risk management and quality assurance. The QRM will lead consultations with client engagement teams, focusing on the review, drafting, and negotiation of client service contracts and third-party access letter agreements. Additionally, the role involves advising on interfirm agreements and navigating cross-border engagement considerations, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and confidentiality protocols. The QRM will also evaluate potential engagement conflicts and manage independence considerations, which are critical in maintaining the integrity of MARS services. In addition to client engagement responsibilities, the QRM will assist with compliance tasks, including updating policy manuals and coordinating internal practice reviews. The role will also involve leading presentations and training sessions, as well as pre-clearing external communications such as marketing materials and proposals. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, capable of breaking down complex issues, and passionate about M&A and risk management. This position can be filled from any of the MARS offices and will involve limited travel, approximately 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead consultations with client engagement teams regarding client service contracts and third-party access agreements.
  • Advise on contract structuring and perform risk reviews to mitigate exposure.
  • Support contract negotiations and consult with the Office of General Counsel on contracting matters.
  • Review and modify audit and tax workpaper access letter agreements from other firms.
  • Evaluate potential conflict matters related to bankruptcy and litigation involving MARS clients.
  • Understand and apply client acceptance policies and independence rules relevant to MARS services.
  • Coordinate and monitor practice reviews for annual selection of Advisory PPMDs.
  • Develop and present risk topics at MARS quarterly staff meetings and update training materials.
  • Research and monitor geopolitical and economic trends affecting MARS services.
  • Manage lender access benchmark statistics and support special projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of consulting, contracting, and management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (BBA/BA/BS) with experience in M&A client services.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating letter agreements related to M&A.
  • Ability to work directly with senior-level individuals internally and externally.
  • Accreditation as a Licensed CPA, Licensed Attorney, or Enrolled Agent.
