The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (MBS) Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring seamless care coordination for patients undergoing metabolic and bariatric surgery at Augusta Health. This position requires collaboration with the medical office manager and the MBS Director to develop and implement the needs of the MBS program while ensuring compliance with the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) standards. The coordinator will be responsible for educating both patients and hospital staff about the program and its requirements, as well as developing initiatives aimed at improving the quality of patient care. In this role, the MBS Program Coordinator will engage in various activities including patient education, leading support groups, and facilitating training for support group leaders. The coordinator will also be responsible for reviewing and summarizing patient psychiatric evaluations for discussions with the bariatric team, ensuring that all aspects of patient care are addressed. The position requires a high level of interpersonal and communication skills to promote a team-oriented approach to patient care, as well as excellent written and verbal skills to develop educational materials for patients. The MBS Program Coordinator will also be involved in the continuous improvement of healthcare quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness within the organization. This includes staying updated on best practices in bariatric care and implementing changes as necessary to enhance patient outcomes. The role is essential in fostering a supportive environment for patients navigating their weight loss journey, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care throughout the process.
