About the position
The Laser and Turret Machine Operators are responsible for the set-up and operation of laser and turret machines, ensuring safety, accuracy, and quality in production runs. This role emphasizes the importance of quality control and effective communication with supervisors and engineering teams to maintain high standards in manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Set-up, adjust, and prepare turret punch/laser combination machines.
- Check and adjust tooling heights and material settings.
- Locate and upload proper programs from machine control.
- Ensure optimal laser cutting conditions are met.
- Provide feedback to supervisors on production standards.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations for quality control.
- De-burr parts as needed using files or grinders.
- Package and move finished products to designated locations.
- Conduct set-up inspections and first piece inspections as required by quality control standards.
- Monitor equipment and tool wear, requesting maintenance when necessary.
- Assist with other duties as assigned, ensuring adherence to company policies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong reading comprehension and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow written instructions and processes.
- Basic computer skills are necessary.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in sheet metal fabrication is a plus.
- Flexibility in schedule to accommodate shift work and weekends.
