About the position

The Metal Fabricator II is responsible for assembling structural metal products, including frameworks and shells for machinery, as well as metal parts for door and window hardware. This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and adherence to the company's mission and values while executing tasks according to job orders, verbal instructions, and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Develops layout and plans sequence of operations using knowledge of trigonometry and physical properties of metal.
• Locates and marks bending and cutting lines onto workpieces.
• Acts as a safety liaison, applying the 6s initiatives.
• Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, and drill presses.
• Designs and constructs templates and fixtures.
• Verifies conformance of workpieces to specifications using measuring tools.
• May fabricate and assemble sheet metal products.
• May set up and operate machine tools associated with fabricating shops.
• Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications.
• Cuts workpieces using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knives.
• Removes rough spots from workpieces using grinders, files, or scrapers.
• Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• 3 or more years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Proficient welding skills and ability to pass a weld test.
• Demonstrates initiative and follow-through.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and determine task priorities.
• Organizational and personnel management skills.
