About The Position

The Metal Processing Team Lead is responsible for directing the daily activities of the Metal Processing Team, focusing on performance, continuous improvement, and achieving company metrics. This role requires knowledge of manufacturing processes and Lean principles to troubleshoot production obstacles and monitor production metrics effectively.

Requirements

• Associates degree in Welding, Manufacturing, Industrial or Technical Mechanical discipline preferred, or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing applications and practices.
• Experience guiding others in a production environment with metal fabrication equipment.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to pass AWS D1.1 welding test within 3 months and maintain certification.

Responsibilities

• Train, coach, and lead a Metal Processing Team to improve performance and ensure adherence to company policies.
• Instruct team members on safe operating practices for various metal processing equipment.
• Lead daily problem-solving sessions on the shop floor with a focus on Built-In-Quality.
• Support the creation and revision of Standardized Work documentation and provide training for updates.
• Monitor and verify that finished parts conform to engineering drawings and quality standards.
• Perform daily Process Verification Audits and ensure equipment is in proper working order.
• Accurately report production through Epicor transactions to ensure continuous flow.
• Act as a Safety Ambassador, ensuring adherence to safety policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with Lean Coordinator or Manufacturing Engineering to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist in production by lifting and carrying materials as needed.
