About the position

The position provides independent technical support for order processing at the Gambrinus Steel Plant, focusing on ensuring first-time quality, on-time delivery, and cost control. The role involves data mining, independent analysis, and reporting for the Finish Metallurgical Quality Assurance group and the Gambrinus Metallurgical Laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Independent assignment of at least 50% of thermal treat recipes for assigned furnaces, reviewing process data for orders that fail requirements and proposing corrective actions.
  • Interacts with Supply Chain Engineering, Technology, and Demand Planning on special projects and trial orders, providing technical support through process witnessing and documentation.
  • Participates in quality and departmental meetings, serving as a technical expert for thermal treat operations and supporting shop floor interactions with operators.
  • Works with customer interfaces and the Finish Metallurgical Quality Assurance group to resolve claims related to processed orders, analyzing key process data from history databases.
  • Collaborates with the Gambrinus Metallurgical Laboratory to ensure accurate analysis and reporting of measurement system data, including hardness test machine verifications.
  • Generates ideas for continuous improvement within Thermal Treat and the Metallurgical Laboratory, proposing and leading small improvement projects.
  • Provides technical support for testing, final test results review, order release, and certification to maintain on-time delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering with 2 years of experience in engineering technology, data analysis, and/or metallography.
  • Working knowledge and experience in Outlook, Word, Power Point, etc.
  • Metallography of carbon and low alloy steels.
  • Skilled in Access data queries and data analysis using licensed JMP software.
  • Strong communication skills and analytical skills with creative thinking processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters Degree in Engineering with experience in engineering technology, data analysis, and/or metallography preferred.
  • Bachelor Degree in Material Science with 2 years of experience in engineering technology, data analysis, and/or metallography.
  • Masters Degree in Material Science with experience in engineering technology, data analysis, and/or metallography preferred.
