About the position
The Metallurgist position at Steel Dynamics involves collaborating with the Sales team, Operations, and Customers to address technical and metallurgical challenges. The role focuses on ensuring the performance of engineered steel bar products, improving quality and cost efficiency, and developing new products based on customer needs and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Review incoming specs and customer inquiries to ensure excellent performance of engineered steel bar products in each end use.
- Work with operations to improve quality performance, cost, and yield of existing products.
- Work with customers to develop new products and capabilities.
- Work with operations to share customer preferences, industry benchmarks, metallurgical training, and state of the market.
- Support customer visits and tours at the mill as well as participating in visits to customer facilities and industry events.
Requirements
- BS in Materials Science or Metallurgy
- 5 plus years experience in SBQ or similar field.
