About the position

This position is located in the National Weather Service (NWS), Pacific Region (PR), Weather Forecast Offices (WFO), with one vacancy in Honolulu, HI. As a Meteorologist, you will perform duties including leading and coordinating hydrologic service products, developing and issuing forecasts and warnings, supervising professional research scientists, and implementing improvements to operational functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and/or coordinate hydrologic service products for assigned WFO/NSC area, including forecasts and warnings of floods and river stage.
• Develop, prepare and issue all warning, forecast and service products assigned to the WFO/NSC.
• Supervise the professional accomplishments and oversee the support of federal professional research scientists.
• Direct, plan, and implement improvements to the organization's operational functions.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Must be suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.
• Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
• A one year probationary period may be required.
• Must meet the Basic Requirements and Specialized Experience as outlined.

• Experience in ensuring the quality and timeliness of weather forecast products.
• Experience in implementing improvements to operational functions and assisting in staff training.
• Experience in supporting the coordination of weather forecasts across multiple service areas.
