About the position

The Meter Reader/Customer Service Technician at Veolia North America is responsible for performing field functions related to customer interactions regarding water meter operations. This role involves reading meters, conducting investigations, and ensuring proper service delivery to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. The technician will also handle equipment maintenance and report any issues affecting customer relations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all field functions relating to direct customer interface at their premises, including meter readings and investigations.
  • Conduct settings, changes, and field testing for flow and/or pressure of meters.
  • Remove, change, install, and repair meter equipment such as Meter Interface Units (MIUs).
  • Locate and operate curb stops, valves, and recording equipment.
  • Report unusual conditions observed on customer premises that could affect company-customer relations.
  • Document daily activities using company equipment and associated programs (i.e., CMMS, GIS, CC&B).
  • Relay information and arrange appointments for field visits as necessary.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • One (1) year experience in water system operation and maintenance.
  • Must hold and maintain a Massachusetts Grade 1 (full) Distribution Certification or obtain it within eighteen (18) months of hire.
