About the position
The position involves reading water meters, rechecking readings, and reporting any issues related to broken meters, meter lids, meter boxes, and straits. The incumbent will be responsible for billing customers based on meter readings and will need to report water leaks and the need for new meter boxes when necessary. The role also includes completing related work orders and performing specialized technical tasks associated with reading meters. Additionally, the employee must maintain equipment and vehicles in good working condition and provide backup support to other staff members. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.
Responsibilities
- Reads water meters to bill customers and rereads meters as necessary.
- Reports water leaks and the need for new meter boxes for those that have deteriorated or been stolen.
- Completes related work orders.
- Performs specialized technical aspects related to reading meters.
- Maintains equipment and vehicle in good working condition.
- Provides back-up support to other staff.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One to three years of experience in meter reading preferred.
- Valid Texas driver's license required.
