About the position

The Metro College Internship Program offers a unique opportunity for college and graduate students to gain hands-on experience in the transit industry as a Junior Performance Analyst in the Data Lab. Interns will work with large datasets, apply advanced analytical techniques, and collaborate with data professionals to develop machine learning applications that enhance public transit efficiency and innovation. This role is designed to provide practical experience and exposure to various functions within the organization, making it ideal for those pursuing careers in data science and machine learning.

Responsibilities

  • Compile, review, and analyze data using a personal computer.
  • Research data and assist in preparing management, operations, technical, and administrative reports.
  • Produce tangible work products such as presentations, reports, and graphic representations of data.
  • Review reports to identify problems and recommend solutions as instructed.
  • Participate in training sessions related to departmental functions and attend relevant meetings.
  • Participate in and/or lead departmental meetings and working sessions.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree relevant to the internship.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 for graduate students.
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete a medical examination if required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data analysis and machine learning techniques.
  • Familiarity with public transportation systems and operations.
