About the position

The Applications Engineer will join the Dimensional Metrology Team at Lumentum, providing technical expertise and support for innovative optical and photonic products. This role focuses on customer engagement, technical support, and product implementation, ensuring successful integration and optimization of solutions for clients in various industries.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to customers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to products and solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose technical problems, offering timely and effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to identify and address product issues and improvements.
  • Work closely with customers, Sales Team, and Product Team to understand technical requirements and provide tailored solutions.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, presentations, and training sessions for customers and partners.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring their satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Assist customers with the implementation and integration of products into their systems.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, and FAQs.
  • Provide on-site and remote support during installation and deployment phases.
  • Collaborate with the product development team to provide customer feedback and insights for product enhancements.
  • Participate in the development and testing of new products and features.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical support or applications engineering role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Dimensional Metrology in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support customer needs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with PolyWorks, Python, Minitab, CAD software (Solid Works, Catia).
  • Experience in Automotive, Aerospace, Consumer Goods Manufacturing.
