About the position

The METS Advisor I position at the University of Arizona Global Campus is focused on executing targeted recruitment workshops to enroll eligible middle and high school participants in the METS program. The role involves providing academic, career, and educational advising, as well as cultural and collegiate experiences to facilitate a successful transition into college. The advisor is expected to assist at least 80% of 12th-grade participants in accessing college each year, contributing to their academic and personal development.

Responsibilities

  • Execute targeted recruitment workshops to enroll eligible middle and high school participants in the METS program.
  • Provide academic, career, and educational advising to participants.
  • Offer academic support and cultural experiences to prepare participants for college.
  • Assist a minimum of 80% of 12th-grade participants in accessing college each year.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in educational counseling, education, or a related field.
  • Ability to relate to and work with disadvantaged youth, schools, and community agencies.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience working with low-income and educationally disadvantaged youth in an educational environment.
  • Valid driver's license for travel.
