About the position

The MFG Plant Supply Chain Manager is responsible for facilitating the highest supply chain efficiency from supplier to store shelf while ensuring the lowest shelf delivered cost. This role involves monitoring and streamlining procedures across various functions including production, purchasing, product configuration, warehousing, distribution, and financial forecasting. The manager will direct the movement, storage, and processing of inventory, focusing on maintaining the most efficient levels for the entire Kroger supply chain. The position requires performing all tasks safely, efficiently, and accurately to enhance the performance of the plant in the areas of Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR), and the Customer 1st strategy. Leadership is a key component of this role, embodying the 7 Kroger Manufacturing High Performance Work System principles and demonstrating the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. In addition to overseeing supply chain operations, the manager will stay current on improvements and technologies within planning and materials management. This includes supervising and coaching direct reports, completing performance reviews, and providing constructive feedback. The role also involves networking with Kroger material supply managers to incorporate best practices and lead innovative synergies. The manager will partner with merchandising and sales planning teams to optimize production and procurement activities based on customer requirements. Mastery of PRISM inventory control software is essential for advocating its use to ensure inventory accuracy. Furthermore, the manager will be responsible for managing the ordering of all ingredients, packaging materials, and purchased finished goods to meet production requirements, as well as overseeing the production scheduling process to enhance customer service, working capital, and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate supply chain efficiency from supplier to store shelf with the lowest shelf delivered cost.
  • Monitor and streamline procedures for production, purchasing, product configuration, warehousing, distribution, and financial forecasting.
  • Direct the movement, storage, and processing of inventory with a focus on efficiency.
  • Perform all jobs safely, efficiently, and accurately to maintain and improve plant performance in Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR), and Customer 1st strategy.
  • Provide leadership that embodies Kroger Manufacturing High Performance Work System principles.
  • Stay current on improvements and technologies within planning and materials management.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports, complete performance reviews, and provide feedback.
  • Network with Kroger material supply managers to incorporate best practices and lead innovative synergies.
  • Partner with merchandising and sales planning to optimize production and procurement activity for customer requirements.
  • Master PRISM inventory control software and advocate its use for inventory accuracy.
  • Manage ordering of all ingredients, packaging materials, and purchased finished goods to satisfy production requirements.
  • Manage production scheduling process to optimize customer service, working capital, and reliability.
  • Develop processes/procedures to foster continuous improvement and accountability between departments and with external suppliers.
  • Help establish and manage finished goods and raw material budgets.
  • Coordinate production for all new products introduced.
  • Manage inventory and supply of outsourced finished goods from vendors sold by the plant.
  • Provide timely projections on requested items to commodity, ingredient, and packaging buyers.
  • Provide Marketing with information on slow-moving items and work to eliminate product going out of date.
  • Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe, quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF Systems.
  • Accountable to Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in logistics or a related field.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and prioritizing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to foster collaborative working relationships.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information, identify data relationships and dependencies, and design workflows and procedures.
  • 6 years of related experience in the food industry dealing with supply chain management (desired for pay level 9).
  • Understanding of integrated planning systems; Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) (desired for pay level 10).
  • Strong background in food processing and packaging (desired for pay level 10).
