About the position

The Management Research Analyst Principal at Arizona State University is responsible for conducting complex strategic research and analysis to support university decision-making. This role involves managing and reporting official data, leading data visualization efforts, and coordinating process improvement initiatives within the department. The position aims to provide high-quality information and insights to assist university staff and senior administration in planning and evaluation functions.

Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze, and direct complex strategic reports.
  • Perform institutional research activities involving management and reporting of official data.
  • Coordinate and manage process improvement initiatives for the department.
  • Lead data visualization development and reporting efforts.
  • Develop and implement strategic planning and complex reporting methodologies.
  • Provide timely and accurate insights to meet internal and external requestor needs.
  • Utilize technology for efficient delivery of data products and services.
  • Support partnerships focused on improving higher education outcomes.
  • Develop reporting policies, documentation, and procedures.
  • Analyze trends and make recommendations to support university management reporting needs.
  • Develop measures and accountability reports, dashboards, and outcome-based reporting models.
  • Train university staff on reporting best practices and data interpretation.
  • Represent the department on various university committees.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a related field and five years of related administrative experience; OR eleven years of related administrative experience; OR any equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience in data management and analysis, particularly in higher education contexts.
  • Strong organizational skills and project leadership experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of university organization and mission.
  • Experience as a lead analyst for a unit or department.
  • Experience analyzing higher education student and human resources data.
  • Familiarity with database management and SQL development.
  • Experience in graphic or tabular presentation of complex data.
