About the position

The Mgr 2, Business Ops position at the Georgia Department of Corrections is responsible for overseeing a team of Project Managers within the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Alarm (MEP/FA) unit. This role involves managing multiple capital improvement projects from inception through to completion, including budget tracking and purchasing responsibilities. The position requires a strong background in construction and renovation, particularly in correctional or industrial environments, and necessitates a significant amount of fieldwork and site visits.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of Project Managers in the MEP/FA unit.
• Oversee multiple capital improvement projects from inception to completion.
• Track project budgets and manage purchasing responsibilities.
• Conduct site visits for project oversight and management.
• Develop and implement capital improvement plans for large-scale projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Three years of experience managing professional level staff or seven years of related professional experience.
• Three years of experience at the lower level Mgr, Business Ops (GSM010) or equivalent.
• Five or more years of experience with Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, or Fire Alarm systems.
• Two or more years of experience managing professional staff on construction or renovation projects with budgets of $1M or higher.
• Five or more years of experience managing construction or renovation projects in a correctional or industrial environment.
