About the position

The General Ledger (GL) Manager at Deltek is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day global activities of the General Accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with USGAAP. This role involves leading a team of accountants, managing journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis, while also focusing on process improvements and automation of transactions. The GL Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams and support internal and external audits, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day global activities of the General Accounting team.
  • Oversee general accounting processes across all accounts and transaction types.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, analyze account activity for variances, and review account reconciliations.
  • Automate transactions and focus the team on error-free processing and problem resolution.
  • Review and approve monthly journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations in BlackLine.
  • Manage accounting activities under USGAAP, including royalty, payroll, and accrual accounting.
  • Lead month-end activities, including review of JEs and variance analysis.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing/reviewing PBC requests.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements related to accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist in filing annual registration of municipal/business permits and SEC information updates.
  • Support the Corporate Controller Group in drafting policies and procedures.
  • Create ad-hoc analysis and work on ad-hoc projects as needed.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience in a global company with USGAAP reporting.
  • Minimum of 2 years managing staff.
  • BA or BS in Accounting.
  • CPA required.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel and MS Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a Shared Services environment.
  • Experience from a big 4 auditing firm.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint, BlackLine, CostPoint, and COGNOS.
