About the position

The position is a leadership role within HII's Warfare Systems group, focusing on business development and capture management for Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) opportunities. The incumbent will engage with senior customer leadership, guide proposal teams, and manage activities to identify and win growth opportunities in specialized mission solutions, particularly in C5ISR systems and electronic warfare. The role requires a strategic mindset, market analysis, and the ability to connect operational needs with HII's capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform multi-functional roles/responsibilities as a BD/Capture Subject Matter Expert (SME) with full lifecycle of an opportunity from exploratory through submission.
  • Monitor the Operation's pipeline, establish BD priorities, and allocate resources.
  • Provide leadership, management, and oversight for pursuits/capture activities towards meeting/exceeding business development goals.
  • Work with group Vice Presidents of Business Development and Programs to refine the overall strategic plan and develop a pipeline of opportunities.
  • Continuously monitor the market and competitors to develop and position strengths/competencies.
  • Identify operational needs for EW, radar, and other sensor systems and translate requirements to an engineering team.
  • Coordinate meetings with customers, competitors, and teammates to develop market insight on requirements and acquisition strategies.
  • Clearly articulate and brief customers on HII capabilities, products, and government contract vehicles.
  • Participate in business planning activities, including pipeline reviews, proposal development, and opportunity collaboration sessions.

Requirements

  • 8 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's in a related field or 6 years relevant experience with a Master's in a related field.
  • Five years of experience managing complex business development efforts over $50M within DoD and the Intelligence Community.
  • Experience with successful execution of all phases of large, multi-year capture efforts, including strategic planning and proposal development.
  • Proven success identifying and growing new business and developing strategic plans for growth.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the entire capture process and solid experience in all contract types.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with DoD and IC Acquisition program management roles such as Program Manager or Acquisition Manager.
  • Knowledge and experience in the Electronic Warfare, Space, and Intelligence Community markets.
