About the position

The Manager of Business Development at HII's Mission Technologies division is responsible for leading and managing activities to identify and secure growth opportunities within the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC). This role involves engaging with senior customer leadership, guiding proposal teams, and ensuring the successful execution of business development strategies focused on specialized mission solutions, particularly in C5ISR systems and sensors. The position requires a hands-on leader who can perform market analysis, develop capture plans, and collaborate with various stakeholders to meet business development goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all activities to identify and win DoD & IC growth opportunities.
  • Engage with senior customer leadership and acquisition teams.
  • Provide guidance to proposal teams for producing competitive offers in response to contract bids.
  • Perform market and economic analysis to inform business strategies.
  • Design and execute formal capture plans for new opportunities.
  • Support marketing efforts and monitor market and competitor activity.
  • Establish business development priorities and allocate resources effectively.
  • Coordinate meetings with customers and stakeholders to gather market insights.
  • Articulate and brief customers on HII capabilities and products.
  • Participate in business planning activities, including pipeline reviews and proposal development.

Requirements

  • 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field or 6 years with a Master's degree.
  • Five years of experience managing complex business development efforts over $50M within DoD and IC.
  • Experience in all phases of large, multi-year capture efforts, including strategic planning and proposal development.
  • Proven success in identifying and growing new business opportunities.
  • Extensive knowledge of the capture process and experience with various contract types.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with DoD and IC acquisition programs.
  • Background as a Program Manager or similar roles in business development.
