About the position

The Catering Sales Manager at Chartwells Higher Education, University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, is responsible for managing catering inquiries and providing exceptional customer service to clients. This role involves collaborating with internal teams to ensure successful catering events and maintaining accurate records of catering activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide catering sales support to client inquiries.
  • Determine client catering needs by providing outstanding customer service.
  • Provide knowledgeable and appropriate suggestions regarding menu selections and event locations.
  • Answer ongoing questions and provide solutions to client inquiries.
  • Partner and communicate with internal teams on menu and catering events.
  • Create and maintain catering activities in CaterTrax to ensure menu, location, and staffing needs are recorded.
  • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven track record in catering.
  • Strong knowledge of current food and industry trends.
  • Solid understanding of the sales process and passion for business development through direct sales, with a proven record of accomplishment for sales success.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in the hospitality industry including one year experience in catering sales.
  • Ability to assess client requirements and deliver ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Superior oral and written communications and problem-solving/strategizing skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, flexible and adaptable to constant changes, and must possess attention to detail.
  • Excellent overall computer skills with advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
