Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the media relations plan for NiSource.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with top-tier reporters, editors, and producers.
• Manage inbound media requests and proactive media stories.
• Collaborate across departments to shape relevant communications for stakeholders.
• Implement risk mitigation strategies for communications risks.
• Prepare spokespeople with briefing materials and media training.
• Enhance the team's media relations capabilities through training and development.
• Craft narratives to articulate financial and corporate strategies.
• Form collaborative relationships with key leaders to support external communications priorities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
• 7-9 years of experience in communications with proven results in media relations.
• Experience with communications measurement and monitoring tools, including KPI development.
• Experience managing crisis communications and sensitive issues professionally.
• Demonstrated success in building relationships with the press and key stakeholders.
• High ability to collaborate with other departments and interface with management.
• Expertise in identifying and telling impactful stories across multiple channels.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Understanding of regulations specific to communications for publicly traded utilities.
