About the position

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is seeking a Database Development Manager to lead a team in managing and implementing database solutions and business reporting strategies. This role involves hands-on technical implementation, overseeing database setup, maintenance, and data entry, while also promoting data understanding among staff. The ideal candidate will embrace new technologies and ensure best practices are followed in database management and reporting solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage database set-up, testing, maintenance, and data entry.
  • Work with business users to design and develop prototypes for tactical and enterprise solutions.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and debug business solutions software through design, development, and deployment.
  • Implement user reporting solutions based on business requirements and content knowledge.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Business Analysts to provide estimates and refine technical requirements.
  • Coordinate with Database Administrators to ensure best practices are followed.
  • Promote data understanding among AAP staff to enable data access without IT involvement.
  • Resolve data integrity issues by profiling data and understanding data behavior and business rules.
  • Manage and report metrics related to database locking and blocking.
  • Supervise and mentor assigned staff, fostering an inclusive work environment.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and apply development methodologies as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
  • At least four years of experience in managing business intelligence solutions and relational databases.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, SQL Server 2012+, Power BI, SSIS, and SSRS.
  • Supervisory experience or experience as a technical team lead.
  • Excellent analytical, project management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves
