About the position

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is seeking a Manager of Database Development to lead a team in overseeing the technical implementation of databases, business reporting solutions, and data migration strategies. This role requires proficiency in various technologies and a commitment to promoting data understanding within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage database set-up, testing, maintenance, and data entry.
  • Work with business users to design and develop prototypes for tactical and enterprise solutions.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and debug business solutions software through design, development, and deployment.
  • Implement user reporting solutions based on business requirements and content knowledge.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Business Analysts to provide estimates and help refine technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with Database Administrators to ensure best practices are followed.
  • Promote data understanding among AAP staff to enable data access without IT involvement.
  • Resolve data integrity issues by profiling data and understanding data behavior and business rules.
  • Manage and report metrics leading to database locking and blocking.
  • Coordinate the processing, dispatch, and archiving of databases and database functions.
  • Supervise and mentor assigned staff, fostering an inclusive work environment.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and apply development methodologies accordingly.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent education and work experience.
  • At least four years of experience maintaining or managing business intelligence solutions, including relational databases and reporting.
  • Supervisory experience or experience as a technical team lead is required.
  • Excellent analytical, project management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Outstanding technical acumen with the ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, SQL Server 2012+, Power BI, SSIS, and SSRS is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with NetForum and Business Intelligence platforms is highly desirable.
