About the position

The Engineering Department Director at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center is responsible for overseeing the department's operations in alignment with the organization's mission. This role includes chairing the Environment of Care Committee, managing safety programs, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The director will also coordinate maintenance and repairs of critical systems, develop departmental policies, and provide guidance to staff while striving for excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Engineering Department to support the Wellstar mission.
• Chair the Environment of Care Committee and implement management plans.
• Assist the Safety Officer in reviewing policies and managing the safety surveillance program.
• Direct planned and corrective maintenance on systems as per manufacturers' recommendations.
• Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures.
• Coordinate contract maintenance and installations.
• Oversee preventative maintenance and repairs for critical systems including boiler, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and medical gases.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and Joint Commission standards.
• Maintain a trained and competent staff and provide guidance to Plant Operations Supervisor and staff.
• Oversee hospital properties and buildings, including leased properties and Medical Park Foundation properties.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a similar field.
• Certification from an accredited educational institute.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical, facilities, and people management.

• Knowledge related to Joint Commission, CMS, and LSC Compliance.
