About the position

The MGR, Operations position at the University of Florida involves overseeing the maintenance and renovations of MSE facilities. Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance and renovations of MSE facilities, including prioritizing projects, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Supervise facilities staff by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, directing work, and resolving escalated problems.
  • Manage building access controls, ensuring proper settings for holidays and emergency closures.
  • Maintain accurate space usage information and manage department space allocation reporting.
  • Manage campus mail and shipping/receiving operations, including sorting, notifying recipients, and preparing outgoing packages.
  • Manage all asset management functions, including annual inventory and surplus.
  • Serve as property custodian for the department.
  • Enter and track Facilities Services work orders and EH&S Pest Control requests.
  • Report and track maintenance/housekeeping needs with HPWT supervisor.
  • Serve as building emergency coordinator, developing preparedness and disaster plans.
  • Attend relevant meetings, seminars, and training sessions.
  • Respond to after-hours facilities calls, including building fire alarms or other emergencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience using various machines and tools associated with a metal and wood machine shop.
