About the position

The Manager of Trade Development for the Emerald Division at Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits is responsible for serving as the primary liaison between the local market and designated suppliers. This role focuses on developing strategic direction for supplier priorities to meet volume and value targets, ensuring optimal resource allocation and adherence to brand strategies. The position involves creating marketing programs, executing sales promotions, and evaluating brand performance while leading supplier planning initiatives and ensuring compliance with pricing and marketing standards.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the local market and designated suppliers.
  • Develop strategic direction for supplier priorities to meet volume and value targets.
  • Create marketing programs for use in the field and present new program ideas.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate sales promotions and marketing of brands.
  • Deliver marketing brand plans to management teams.
  • Lead Supplier Planning Initiatives, including supplier meetings and business reviews.
  • Ensure retail programs align with tracking and execution standards.
  • Set program objectives and measure ROI with a KPI scorecard.
  • Oversee funds related to local marketing and brand planning.
  • Utilize analytic tools to identify local market intelligence and opportunities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely program tracking and reporting.
  • Familiarize with competition and market trends.
  • Support POS/VAP planning and buys.
  • Coach and direct team on overall performance and expectations.
  • Attract, retain, and motivate the team to maintain an engaging work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of relevant experience in trade development or a similar role.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to secure auto-liability insurance.
  • Good knowledge of Commercial Finance and Pricing practices.
  • Understanding of applicable state regulations and adult beverage market dynamics.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Understanding of wine and spirits, including regions, varietals, and product pairing techniques.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Tableau, ACD, EzFocus, or similar analytic tools.
  • Knowledge of marketing strategies specific to the beverage industry.
