About the position

The Mental Health Technician I (MH Tech 1) plays a crucial role in supporting patients throughout their treatment journey at Discovery Mood and Anxiety Programs. This position focuses on ensuring patient safety, facilitating therapeutic interventions, and providing essential support to patients as they navigate their treatment process. The MH Tech 1 is responsible for monitoring patients, leading psychoeducational groups, and maintaining communication with the treatment team to enhance patient care and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Orients new patients to the treatment program, its requirements, intent, and routine.
• Completes needed assessments within 24 hours of admission.
• Determines special needs of new patients and communicates those needs to the treatment team.
• Monitors all patients throughout their treatment experience, ensuring they are in sight and checking on them regularly.
• Serves as a positive role model and demonstrates a professional and caring manner toward co-workers, patients, and guests.
• Facilitates treatment plans by providing day-to-day support to patients and helping them engage in positive coping skills.
• Directs patients clearly and concisely, following house rules and group schedules.
• Runs and engages patients in therapeutic groups such as coping skills, relapse prevention, and psychoeducation.
• Documents any behaviors that occur in the milieu thoroughly and appropriately.
• Maintains a clean environment by completing required cleaning tasks during shifts.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree or one year of experience working with mental health or adolescents preferred.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License in good standing.
• Must be CPI and CPR/First Aid certified within 90 days of employment.
• Must attend all training, education, and staff enrichment activities.

Nice-to-haves
