About the position

The position involves operating a skid steer with a milling head/broom box attachment, primarily focusing on asphalt milling and paving tasks. The role requires collaboration within a team environment and adherence to safety protocols while performing various construction duties.

Responsibilities

• Control and operate a skid steer with milling head/broom box attachment.
• Operate a power broom and run grade control on the milling machine.
• Assist the construction/paving crew with shoveling, raking, and other labor tasks as needed.
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Report any problems to the manager.
• Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
• Follow directions from the manager regarding daily tasks and expectations for each project.
• Run small power tools such as a jackhammer when required.
• Dig, spread, and level construction materials.
• Lift, carry, and hold materials, tools, and supplies.
• Assist in the placement, moving, and dismantling of traffic control devices.

Requirements

• Prior experience with asphalt milling/paving equipment.
• Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Thorough understanding of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, and compaction.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• One to two years of related asphalt and road construction experience.
