About the position

The MHP II ACT (Assertive Community Program) Leader is a pivotal role within the Department of Mental Health-MHC Waccamaw, dedicated to supporting the recovery of individuals with serious mental illnesses. This position is responsible for leading the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team, which provides intensive non-residential treatment and rehabilitative services to clients across various clinics in the Waccamaw region, including Myrtle Beach/South Strand, Kingstree, Georgetown, and Conway. The leader will ensure that services are delivered in accordance with the fidelity model, which emphasizes evidence-based practices tailored to the unique needs of each patient. In this supervisory role, the MHP II ACT Leader will oversee the administrative operations of the team, which consists of two other employees. The leader will provide clinical oversight, ensuring that all patients receive appropriate services and that these services are documented according to the South Carolina Department of Mental Health's Quality Assurance requirements. The position also involves direct service provision to ACT beneficiaries, facilitating clinical supervisor meetings, treatment team meetings, and coordinating training for team members. The leader is expected to maintain a commitment to cultural affairs, ensuring that all direct reports incorporate cultural competency into their performance management objectives. Additionally, the role requires compliance with corporate policies and risk management plans, as well as pursuing professional development through continuing education and collegial consultation. The MHP II ACT Leader must possess practical therapeutic knowledge and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and other professionals. This position is essential and may require flexibility in scheduling, as services are delivered in community settings and patients' homes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administrative operation of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team consisting of two other employees.
  • Provide clinical oversight of services ensuring patients are seen according to their needs and the delivery of best and ethical practices.
  • Provide direct services to ACT service beneficiaries.
  • Ensure all services are documented in accordance with SCDMH Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Provide direct supervision to ACT team members, including facilitating clinical supervisor meetings and treatment team meetings.
  • Coordinate training for team members and complete evaluations.
  • Maintain a commitment to cultural affairs and ensure all direct reports have a cultural affairs component in their performance management planning document.
  • Comply with Corporate Compliance Policy and Risk Management Plan and certify completion of prior authorizations.
  • Pursue professional development through collegial consultation, continuing education, and licensure.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in guidance, counseling, social sciences, or a related field.
  • Professional experience in mental health, human service, or social services programs.
  • Evidence of clinical experience in direct patient care, including practicum or internship, or post-graduate clinical experience of at least one year.
  • Must be a licensed psychologist, LISW-CP, LPC, or LMFT in South Carolina.
  • Three years' experience working with adults diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness.
  • Minimum of two years post-graduate experience.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
