About the position

Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. We are seeking a Services Supervisor to join the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services team! As a Services Supervisor you will work with staff and provide a diverse array of supports, while learning about every aspect of the mental health system!

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, trains and evaluates the work of assigned staff team that provide services to adults with serious and persistent mental illness.
  • Coordinates staff recruitment, hiring, work assignments, orientation, and performance supervision according to policies, rules and regulations.
  • Ensures documentation in Electronic Health Record is in accordance with licensure, agency policies, Medicaid and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) standards for practice.
  • Trains staff on medical record requirements; regularly reviews assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and other required documentation created by staff.
  • Develops program policies and procedures in compliance with Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS), CARF and Licensure.
  • Analyzes and interprets guidelines and regulations to evaluate the effectiveness of the program and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • May participate in budget preparation and planning, and assists in administering assigned budget.
  • Performs other work as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (master's degree preferred).
  • Three years of increasingly responsible job-related experience to include two years of supervisory experience.
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or license eligible preferred.
  • Experience with an electronic health record (EHR) preferred.
  • Considerable knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of community behavioral, prevention and/or DD programming.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of persons with behavioral health disorders.
  • Knowledge of relevant mental health laws.
  • Ability to plan and organize a behavioral health project and/or components of a program.
  • Ability to interpret and apply county, state and federal regulations, policies and guidelines related to the assigned program.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Skill in assessing, diagnosing, formulating treatment goals and implementation of services for individuals with serious mental illness.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
