About the position

The position involves providing direct patient care and advocacy in a behavioral health setting, primarily focusing on assisting patients with their daily living activities. The role requires effective communication and observation skills to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment. The employee will be assigned to 1:1 patient care or designated acuity shifts, with the flexibility to float to other needs within the hospital as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist registered nurses in direct care of patients, specifically with activities of daily living.
  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment through observation and monitoring.
  • Provide direct interaction with patients and assist in group activities.
  • Act as a patient advocate by modeling standards of performance and meeting patients' service needs.
  • Float to cover other needs in the hospital when not assigned to 1:1 or designated acuity shifts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any of the social sciences preferred or comparable behavioral health experience.
  • Experience working with mentally ill and/or developmentally delayed clients.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active CNA License (preferred) with a 2% pay differential available for applicants who maintain it.
