About the position
The MHW (Mental Health Worker) position at Butler Hospital involves providing patient advocacy and support in a behavioral health setting. The role includes assisting registered nurses with direct patient care, particularly in activities of daily living, while ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment through observation and interaction with patients.
Responsibilities
- Act as a patient advocate by modeling standards of performance and addressing patients' needs.
- Assist registered nurses in the direct care of patients, focusing on activities of daily living.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment on the unit through observation and monitoring.
- Interact with patients and provide assistance in group settings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any of the social sciences preferred or comparable behavioral health experience.
- Experience working with mentally ill and/or developmentally delayed clients.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Active CNA license (preferred) with a 2% pay differential for those who maintain it.
