About the position

The Program Improvement Manager at the SC Department of Social Services plays a crucial role in enhancing child welfare services by driving reform efforts through process and practice improvements. This position involves supporting the implementation of action steps related to the Michelle H. Settlement Agreement, monitoring compliance, and coordinating with various teams to ensure effective data management and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Drive reform efforts through process and practice improvements in Child Welfare Services Division.
  • Support and track completion of action steps in lawsuit-related implementation plans.
  • Serve as a member of the internal monitoring team.
  • Coordinate with Child Welfare Services to complete CAPSS reviews and report on FSA measures.
  • Monitor activities of inter-divisional work groups to accomplish lawsuit-related tasks.
  • Review and analyze data related to lawsuit compliance and assist in writing documents for internal monitoring.
  • Maintain spreadsheets for tracking implementation plan activities and ensure timely completion.
  • Assist DSS Leadership in preparation for Michelle H. status conferences.
  • Coordinate Co-Monitor meetings and focus groups with DSS staff as requested.
  • Ensure data security and confidentiality in managing client and employee information.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree and two years of experience in social services, management, business administration, administrative services, or public administration.
  • Bachelor's Degree and four years of experience in social services, management, business administration, administrative services, or public administration.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for transporting children and adults.
  • Ability to lift children and interact positively with clients.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in child welfare reform efforts.
  • Familiarity with legal compliance in social services.
