About the position

HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a Micro-Electromechanical Systems (MEMS) Engineer to support work with the U.S. Army Research Laboratory in Adelphi, MD. The role involves working in a collaborative research and development environment, focusing on characterizing experimental MEMS and microelectronics technologies for applications in PNT and RF spectrum sensing. The engineer will conduct experiments, perform data analysis, and collaborate with senior technical personnel and external organizations to transition prototype systems to the U.S. Army development and acquisition enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Characterize experimental MEMS and microelectronics technologies for applications in PNT and RF spectrum sensing.
  • Execute experiments via a combination of manual and software-controlled automated measurements with various characterization instruments.
  • Perform basic data analysis, document experimental procedures and results, deliver presentations, and participate in design reviews.
  • Execute finite element modeling of advanced MEMS devices utilizing software such as ANSYS or COMSOL.
  • Develop experiment apparatus tools and setup procedures, maintain and calibrate microelectronics characterization equipment, and interface with equipment vendors for service/support.
  • Collaborate with team members and external partners to advance inertial and RF sensors and assist in the design of experiments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • 2 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 0 years experience with a Master's degree; or 6 years relevant experience with a High School Diploma.
  • Experience or familiarity with microelectronics characterization equipment such as network analyzers, oscilloscopes, RF and DC probe stations, LCR meters, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, profilometers, laser doppler vibrometers, or lock-in amplifiers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3 years or more experience with microelectronics, semiconductor, or MEMS characterization.
  • Working knowledge of ANSYS or COMSOL.
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB or Python.
  • Proficient in MS Office products, including MS EXCEL and MS PowerPoint.
  • Interest in advancing and prioritizing national security technologies.
