About the position

The Micro-Electromechanical Systems (MEMS) Engineer will support HII's Mission Technologies division in collaboration with the U.S. Army Research Laboratory. This role involves working in a research and development environment to characterize MEMS and microelectronics technologies, focusing on applications in Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) and Radio Frequency (RF) spectrum sensing. The engineer will engage in experimental work, data analysis, and collaboration with senior technical personnel and external partners to transition prototype systems into the Army's development and acquisition processes.

Responsibilities

  • Characterize experimental MEMS and microelectronics technologies for applications in PNT and RF spectrum sensing.
  • Execute experiments via a combination of manual and software-controlled automated measurements with various characterization instruments.
  • Perform basic data analysis, document experimental procedures and results, deliver presentations, and participate in design reviews.
  • Execute finite element modeling of advanced MEMS devices utilizing software such as ANSYS or COMSOL.
  • Develop experiment apparatus tools and setup procedures, maintain and calibrate microelectronics characterization equipment, and interface with equipment vendors for service/support.
  • Collaborate with team members and external partners to advance inertial and RF sensors and assist in the design of experiments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • 2 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 0 years experience with a Master's degree; or 6 years relevant experience with a High School Diploma.
  • Experience or familiarity with microelectronics characterization equipment such as network analyzers, oscilloscopes, RF and DC probe stations, LCR meters, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, profilometers, laser doppler vibrometers, or lock-in amplifiers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3 years or more experience with microelectronics, semiconductor, or MEMS characterization.
  • Working knowledge of ANSYS or COMSOL.
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB or Python.
  • Proficient in MS Office products, including MS EXCEL and MS PowerPoint.
  • Interest in advancing and prioritizing national security technologies.

Benefits

  • Full-time employment with a competitive salary range of $78,257.00 - $120,000.00.
