About the position

The Microbiologist position at Eurofins Scientific involves the execution of microbiological tests in a cleanroom environment, ensuring compliance with established procedures and regulatory standards. The role focuses on maintaining laboratory quality and safety while providing accurate test results for medical devices and pharmaceuticals. Candidates will also be responsible for data collection, technical report writing, and assisting in the training of new laboratory technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and performing microbiological tests on medical devices and pharmaceuticals according to USP, FDA, and AAMI/ISO regulations.
  • Conducting routine Quality Control of laboratory equipment, media, and microorganisms.
  • Providing accurate test results to customers in a timely manner, including Bioburden and Sterility tests.
  • Recording test results accurately and legibly on all documents.
  • Writing technical reports that include text, tables, graphs, and diagrams.
  • Assisting in the training of new Laboratory Technicians.
  • Performing process qualifications and validations for procedures and/or equipment.
  • Maintaining control of test samples including logging, storage, tracking, and disposal.
  • Monitoring test status and conditions as described in Work Instructions and Operating Procedures.
  • Maintaining the laboratory environment through routine cleaning and troubleshooting.
  • Reporting deviations and/or nonconformities to Management.
  • Suggesting preventative and corrective measures for future deviations and nonconformities.
  • Managing inventory of laboratory supplies to maintain par levels.
  • Performing onsite and offsite testing as required.
  • Gowning and garbing for cleanroom settings.
  • Cooperating with the Laboratory Manager on equipment qualification, maintenance, and calibration.
  • Updating procedures for method improvements.
  • Assisting with OOS, NI, CAPA, and Change Control processes in response to laboratory issues.
  • Driving a company car for offsite work, if applicable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or related life science.
  • 1-3 years of experience performing basic microbiological laboratory tests.
  • 1 year of experience with GMP/ISO/USP standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with laboratory equipment such as microscopes, velometers, and autoclaves.
  • Ability to provide root cause analysis and corrective action for Out of Specification Results.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills involving equipment-related issues.
