About the position

The Microelectronics Packaging Production Technician plays a crucial role in providing technical support to process engineering and production teams in a manufacturing environment. This position involves troubleshooting production issues, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The technician will also be responsible for training production personnel and maintaining technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and troubleshoot production problems in multiple manufacturing areas.
  • Act as the first line of production contact and support, including equipment preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Support continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen, 5S coordination, and value stream improvements.
  • Perform experiments under the guidance of a process engineer, including data analysis and reporting.
  • Communicate with production supervisors to support customer delivery commitments and problem resolution.
  • Provide necessary disposition of material per standard procedures with process engineering oversight.
  • Review drawings of parts and assemblies using CAD programs.
  • Instruct and train production personnel on proper equipment and process usage.
  • Write and maintain process and production procedures for assigned products and areas.
  • Assist with cost reduction and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Interact with equipment manufacturer's tech support for upgrades and repairs.
  • Assist in the installation and removal of equipment, including layout and startup validations.
  • Perform equipment programming tasks in support of the process engineering function.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Material Science, or Electro-mechanical engineering, or equivalent technical or trade school.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in electronics, microelectronics, PCB, or plating industries.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well with people.
  • Experience with LEAN and Six Sigma programs and visual factory management techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to train others.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based software including Word, AutoCAD, Excel, and Project.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and structured problem-solving.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and/or electrical troubleshooting skills.
