About the position

Join our team at the Draper microfabrication facility as a Microfabrication Process Engineer. In this role, you will be a key player in the clean room environment, contributing significantly to the generation and development of concepts in MEMs, photonics, microfluidics, and 3D integration, including interpose and wafer level packaging (WLP) concepts. As a Microsystems Engineer, you will apply electronic and mechanical engineering knowledge, theory, and methods to research, design, develop, and test microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) devices and sensors. You will interact with device, hardware, and software design teams to assist in the overall development of systems. Your responsibilities will include designing and developing Microelectromechanical devices and sensors, creating schematics and physical layouts of integrated MEMS components or packaged assemblies. You will assess performance and process capabilities of potential MEMS device designs using modeling or simulation software, and you will test and evaluate devices using a variety of tools, protocols, and software. Analyzing and addressing issues such as reliability, yield improvement, and failure will be a critical part of your role. You will also develop production methods and fabrication processes for MEMS, draft documentation such as operating instructions, performance specifications, and manuals, and share performance experience and operating characteristics with designers or other engineers for new product development purposes and/or training. In addition, you will help define the approach to solve particular problems and independently execute assignments. You will contribute high-quality content for technical reports and presentations with minimal guidance, and proactively identify needs and concerns associated with design and manufacturing decisions, communicating them to project leadership. This position may also involve performing other related duties as assigned, making it a dynamic and engaging role within the organization.
