About the position

Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) is seeking an experienced Microsoft Power Platform Developer III to join our innovative team. This position is pivotal in developing applications that enhance collaboration, productivity, and knowledge sharing across various teams within the university. As a Power Platform Developer, you will report directly to the Director of Enterprise Applications and will be responsible for analyzing, developing, troubleshooting, supporting, and documenting solutions tailored to meet the needs of SNHU. You will utilize tools such as PowerApps, Power Automate, and SharePoint to design and implement secure end-to-end solutions. This role allows for 100% remote work, provided you reside in one of the approved states. In this role, you will gather partner requirements and analyze functional needs to recommend and design effective Power Platform solutions. You will advise business departments on automating their processes and develop inter-system data integrations while ensuring the highest levels of data security. Additionally, you will lead development efforts on products or product features, manage or co-own products, and develop auditing processes to identify opportunities for improvements and remedy bugs. Your responsibilities will also include providing accurate estimates on project tasks, supporting project planning and execution using established methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, and participating in all Agile ceremonies. As a subject matter expert, you will stay current on Power Platform features and updates, lead peer technical documentation and code reviews, and mentor other developers. You will create business process and technical documentation tailored for various audiences, ensuring clear communication around issues and opportunities across organizational boundaries. This role is essential in maintaining the quality and standards of development best practices while enhancing application performance and functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Gather partner requirements and analyze functional requirements to recommend and design Power Platform solutions.
  • Use tools such as PowerApps, Power Automate, and SharePoint to develop and implement end-to-end solutions based on requirements.
  • Advise business departments on automating their business processes.
  • Develop inter-system data integrations using commercial and custom solutions while ensuring high levels of data security.
  • Provide configuration, administration, and functional support to expand capabilities of the platform.
  • Lead development efforts on products or product features and manage or co-own products.
  • Develop auditing processes, identify opportunities for improvements, and remedy bugs.
  • Provide accurate estimates on project tasks and support project planning and execution by established department methodologies, e.g., Agile/Scrum.
  • Participate in all Agile ceremonies: team planning, daily scrum, refinement, sprint review, retrospective.
  • Research and provide technical solutions for complex design challenges.
  • Plan and participate in system testing ensuring systems are functional and troubleshoot/enhance application performance.
  • Work with other members of the development team to ensure adherence to quality, standards, and development best practices.
  • Maintain communication around issues and opportunities; communicate across organizational boundaries from system end-users through senior management.
  • Create business process and technical documentation tailored for target audience, e.g., diagrams, charts to explain complex topics such as data flow, system use, trends.
  • Lead peer technical documentation and code reviews and mentor other developers.
  • Stay current on Power Platform features and updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, or similar field and 10+ years of experience in software development.
  • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Power Platform including PowerApps, Power Automate, PowerFx, Admin Center, Power BI, SharePoint to develop custom solutions.
  • Experience with other Microsoft platforms and tools such as Dataverse/Common Data Service, Flow, O365, Teams, Azure DevOps, related Azure services and data manipulation techniques.
  • Experience with front-end development tools and languages.
  • Experience writing code, API integrations, custom connectors, platform administration, and custom solutions.
  • Experience building secure applications, automating workflows, analyzing data to lead business processes, and optimizing functionality.
  • Familiarity with software architecture principles, database design and data structures, software development lifecycles, common standards, project methodologies, and best practices.
  • Experience with Agile Frameworks (Kanban/Scrum/SAFe).
  • Ability to triage existing code and perform root-cause analysis to resolve issues and errors in application and system environments.
