About the position

The Microsoft Power Platform/Power BI Engineer at Public Consulting Group (PCG) is responsible for building and maintaining solutions using Power BI and the Microsoft Power Platform. This role involves developing reports and dashboards, troubleshooting application issues, and ensuring compliance with lifecycle methodologies. The engineer will work closely with internal and external clients to identify requirements and deliver high-quality analytical solutions, contributing to the improvement of public sector services.

Responsibilities

  • Build solutions for internal and external projects using Power BI and Power Platform.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Identify and troubleshoot application and report issues, ensuring timely resolution or escalation.
  • Ensure production changes comply with lifecycle methodology, version control, and testing guidelines.
  • Act as an internal expert on assigned systems, tracking changes made to base systems.
  • Conduct technical and analytical work to develop and analyze solutions for clients.
  • Assess new software products and solutions based on client needs.
  • Design and develop applications using Power BI, Microsoft Power Platform, and Office 365 services.
  • Document processes and procedures for creating and maintaining Power BI reports and applications.
  • Perform business analysis to identify opportunities for improvement through data visualization.
  • Lead special projects, delegating tasks to team members and ensuring solutions meet business needs.
  • Liaise with IT regarding applications, data governance, and data warehouse maintenance.
  • Perform unit testing on Power BI reports and dashboards, ensuring quality standards are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or 6+ years equivalent experience required.
  • 3+ years' experience with Microsoft Power BI.
  • Experience developing applications on the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate, SharePoint, Teams, and Power Apps.
  • Knowledge of Power BI data querying and modeling capabilities, including DAX.
  • Experience in database development, creating complex queries, views, and stored procedures.
  • Familiarity with all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Ability to troubleshoot software systems and optimize performance.
  • Strong communication skills and critical thinking abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft O365 licensing plans and features.
