About the position

The Microsoft Power Platform/Power BI Engineer at Public Consulting Group (PCG) is responsible for developing and maintaining solutions using Power BI and the Microsoft Power Platform. This role involves building applications, reports, and dashboards to support internal and external projects, ensuring high-quality service and support to users, and conducting technical analysis to meet client needs. The position is remote, emphasizing the importance of a distraction-free work environment and effective communication with team members and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Build solutions for internal and external projects using Power BI and Power Platform.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards, as well as Power Platform application systems.
  • Identify and troubleshoot application and report issues, ensuring resolution or escalation as needed.
  • Ensure production changes adhere to lifecycle methodology, version control, testing, and risk guidelines.
  • Act as an internal expert on assigned systems, tracking changes made to base systems.
  • Conduct technical and analytical work to develop and analyze solutions for clients.
  • Assess new software products and solutions, participating in client needs assessments.
  • Design and develop applications and solutions using Power BI and Office 365 services.
  • Document processes and procedures for creating and maintaining Power BI reports and applications.
  • Perform business analysis to identify opportunities for improvement through data visualization and reporting.
  • Lead special projects, delegating and validating tasks to team members to meet business needs.
  • Liaise with IT regarding applications, data governance, and maintenance of the data warehouse.
  • Perform unit testing on Power BI reports and dashboards, ensuring quality standards are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or 6+ years equivalent experience required.
  • 3+ years' experience with Microsoft Power BI.
  • Experience developing applications on the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate, SharePoint, Teams, Power Apps, and Power BI.
  • Knowledge of Power BI data querying and modeling capabilities, including DAX.
  • Experience in database development, creating complex queries, views, stored procedures, and user-defined functions.
  • Experience supporting all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Ability to troubleshoot software systems and optimize performance.
  • Strong communication skills and critical thinking abilities.
