About the position

As a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator at Peraton, you will play a crucial role in supporting national security by managing and optimizing database systems. This position involves performing database administration activities, ensuring data integrity and availability, and collaborating with various teams to maintain the security of sensitive information. You will be part of a mission-critical team that develops and sustains applications for the U.S. Intelligence Community, contributing to impactful work that directly supports national security interests.

Responsibilities

  • Perform database administration activities, including installation and maintenance of database management software.
  • Design and implement predictive analysis for database systems.
  • Configure, provision, operate, and administer database management systems and related software.
  • Design, install, monitor, maintain, and fine-tune production databases to ensure high data availability.
  • Develop and implement database policies and procedures to maintain data integrity and availability.
  • Collaborate with development, business, and operations teams to ensure data security and confidentiality.
  • Take ownership of the availability, reliability, and integrity of business data stored in production databases.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with SQL Server database administration.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance or ability to obtain it and pass a polygraph examination.
  • Experience with installation, configuration, and maintenance of database management systems.
  • Ability to perform regular backups of databases to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining database security measures, including user access control and encryption.
  • Ability to monitor database performance and optimize queries and indexes for improved efficiency.
  • Experience handling database migrations and upgrades with minimal downtime.
  • Good communication skills for collaboration with application developers and system administrators.
  • Knowledge of DOD policies, best practices, and industry standards for database administration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to design, develop, and document technical solutions and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience with capacity planning, utilization, and performance monitoring.
  • Familiarity with writing SQL queries for data reporting and modification.
  • Experience in database design and development.
  • Experience architecting and managing relational databases.
