About the position

The Mid Level Architectural Designer is responsible for creating innovative architectural designs while ensuring compliance with local codes and zoning regulations. This role involves transforming constraints into opportunities, preparing design presentation packages, and collaborating with project teams to deliver high-quality design solutions. The designer will analyze the impact of their designs on the surrounding environment and global carbon emissions, while also coordinating with various disciplines to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

• Explore precedents, sustainability strategies, façades, and massing studies to align with local code and zoning regulations.
• Provide design options and ideas to assist in the preparation of design presentation packages.
• Create architectural design concepts and visualize project designs, clearly communicating them with the project team.
• Prepare presentation documents and generate plans, sections, details, etc. in accordance with a complete SD, DD, or CD package.
• Analyze the effects of design on surrounding context and global carbon emissions, determining the location of programs and exploring new possibilities in regard to envelopes, materials, and building forms.
• Present designs clearly and professionally in line with overall project objectives.
• Understand project contracts and obligations, incorporating other disciplines (MEP, construction methods, budget) into the design.
• Coordinate with clients effectively.

Requirements

• 5 - 10 years of professional experience required.
• Strong eye for design and ability to push the creative envelope.
• Fully competent in all aspects of architectural processes.
• Experience in all phases and aspects of a project is desirable.
• Proficiency in Revit and/or Rhino is required.
• 'Non-standard' skillset a plus (scripting, illustration, animation, video-editing, etc.).
• Well-versed in the construction process.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates a collaborative and professional work ethic.
